Maj. Gen. Yahya Rahim Safavi who was addressing the 3rd Jihad and Martyrdom Veterans of Iran’s Law Enforcement Forces on Tuesday, quoted the Leader of the Islamic Republic about the country’s defense doctrine, which was the denial of any hegemonic power; “effective deterrence and defense strategy is the second such principle; Iran has been for the sustainable peace and security in the region and the international community, along with seeking convergence and cooperation of the countries in the region,” he said.
Safavi also pointed to ‘sagacious management of the affairs by the Leader’ and ‘nations’ exemplary resistance’ as other components of power inside; “these components provided the energy and stamina in global confrontations especially during nuclear negotiations; the international organizations are under the control of major powers and we should not wait passively for them to bestow on us our own rights,” he emphasized.
Leader’s adviser also cited fighting Takfirist groups and cooperation with international organizations as another component of the grand strategy and doctrine; “the Islamic Republic of Iran has control and surveillance over military developments by foreign forces in the Persian Gulf, and we know the number of US warships and fighter planes; this control provides us with an effective deterrence power,” Safavi told the meeting. “The most important contributing factor to the violence roaming the region has been the Zionist regime and the US measures in Middle East since 2001; apparently, the US has reached to this fact that Iran is a strong and stable country which follows a rationale in its dealing with its enemies, thus showing a level of leniency and concession vis-à-vis Iran,” he asserted.
“The US has found that it could not confront Iran in terms of military might; we will have a position of demand in the region, since we have much to demand from the US, especially US support for Saddam Hussein during the war with Iran, and contributing to destroying Iran’s infrastructure by Baathist Iraq,” said Safavi, implying that the US should provide compensations in order to expiate its past wrong deeds.
“All great powers should know that Iran is a key to solving problems in the region; this is Iran who guarantees the energy to the world, and the west evaluates well Iran’s heavyweight position in this equation; Iran provides them with a grate market in terms of economy,” Safavi told the meeting.
